This Privacy Policy explains how Dan Bui ("we," "us," or "our"), which operates the assistenger service ("the Service"), collects, uses, and protects your information. We've tried to write it in plain English. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. What we collect and why

We only collect what we need to run the Service for you:

Your mobile phone number. You give us this when you sign up. We use it to create your account, sign you in (with a one-time text code), and send and receive your assistant's messages.
Your messages. The text messages you send to your assistant and the replies it sends back. We use these to provide the assistant's responses, remember context you ask it to remember, and improve reliability.
Usage information. Basic technical and activity data — for example, when you sign in, message timestamps, delivery status, and error logs. We use this to keep the Service working, secure, and to troubleshoot problems.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and you should not send sensitive information (such as health, financial, or government ID details) to the assistant.

2. SMS / text messaging

assistenger works over SMS text messaging. The following terms apply specifically to our text messages:

Consent (opt-in). By entering your mobile phone number on our website and signing up, you are opting in to receive text messages from assistenger. This includes one-time sign-in codes, your assistant's replies, and proactive messages such as reminders and check-ins related to the Service.
Message frequency. Message frequency varies and depends on how you use your assistant.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
Opting out. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP to any text from us. After you reply STOP, we will send one confirmation message and then stop sending you texts (except as needed to confirm your opt-out).
Help. Reply HELP at any time for help, or contact us at cassie@assistenger.com.

We do not sell or share your mobile information. Your mobile phone number and SMS consent are not sold, rented, or shared with any third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:

Service providers. We use trusted vendors to operate the Service — for example, a messaging provider to deliver texts and infrastructure providers to host the app. They may only process your information to perform services for us, and they are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.

4. How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and limit access to it.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).

6. Your choices and your data

You can opt out of text messages anytime by replying STOP. To access, correct, or delete your account and data, contact us at cassie@assistenger.com and we'll handle your request. We may need to verify your identity (for example, by the phone number on file) before acting.

7. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
